Hey there! I’m Margie Olivares, a social media and digital communications expert.
Originally from El Paso, Texas, I graduated with a degree in public relations with an emphasis in sports media from Texas Tech in 2017 before earning my MBA in sports management from Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid in 2018.
Growing sports brands through social media is something I’ve been passionate about since I began working in college athletics in 2016. Each day is a blank canvas to spread your team’s message in a creative, fun and powerful way and I take pride in keeping all of my social media channels fresh, relevant and on-brand.
I’m also deeply interested in graphic design and video editing, particularly for use on social media. These days, any post on Twitter or Facebook lacking some piece of multimedia content is almost guaranteed to be ignored, so supplementing posts with compelling imagery is imperative. I enjoy the challenge of creating relevant graphics and videos that catch the attention of our target audience while amplifying the our message.
At the end of the day, social media is about connecting with people. I’m known for my desire to get along with everyone I come into contact with and that translates directly into my work.
Thanks for reading about me! Feel free to head over to the contact page and send me a message!
Margie is a genuine, ambitious, radiant person with a sky-high work ethic and an unrelenting thirst for knowledge. She’s always looking for ways to sharpen her skills and become a better employee. I don’t know anyone who can light up a room as quickly and easily as Margie and she’s always willing to lend a hand to G.A.s and students who need help, even if it inconveniences her. She’s a must-hire for any organization looking for employees who truly care about their work and have the talent to improve social media output on Day 1.

Margie has been exceptional to work with. She makes processes seamless and easy to manage. I have enjoyed our partnership, and I always trust that she will promote our student-athlete image in the best way possible. During COVID-19 she spearheaded working with my department to push out unique content that highlighted the complexities of our student-athletes, and I can always trust her creativity, promptness, and communication style.

“Margie Olivares was a part of the Sun Bowl Association Media Relations group during the fall of 2018. She was always willing to take on any task given and grew immensely within a short amount of time. Ms. Olivares has become extremely knowledgeable using Photoshop and InDesign and is fully capable of producing quality graphics for Social Media posts, which could lead to more engagement and possibly lead to ticket sales. In an exit writeup, Olivares mentioned that her time with the Sun Bowl Association was a stepping stone into working as a sports information director. Knowing who she worked for after leaving the SBA, I am more than positive Ms. Olivares has learned so much more in the areas of writing, editing and proofreading. She has all the skills necessary to help any organization’s Social Media presence grow.”
